VETTAIKAARAN STUNT AND 2nd HEROINE~

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Illayathalpathi’s Vijay starrer Vettaikaran shooting is on in full swing, but yet it is a quite affair with the team trying to keep everything under wraps. So far not a single photograph pertaining to the film or news about Vijay’s appearance is out. Inspite of his downfall in Villu and KURUVI, which did not become a good hit, Vijay is trying to return back with a bang.

The story is said to be different from the usual Vijay movies which are masala type with just fight, songs and comedy. This movie is going to be a turning point in his career and especially the stunts are supposed to be world class. The songs and fight sequences will be a feat to watch as certain novel techniques have been induced.

Despite the scenes with the second heroine being shot, the name of the actress is held a secret. There are many rumors about the film and no official press release has been given by the crew so far. For all the suspense the film is building, looks like it is gonna be a great treat for all Vijay fans.

Director Babu Sivan is making sure that every stunt scene being shot for Vettaikaran leaves the audience astounded! The stunt master who has been given the responsibility to handle the entire sequence is Kanal Kannan. Hectic action was reported from AVM Studios where the shoot is being canned.

Actor Vijay has tried out some daredevil stunts himself and the scene is set in a market place where Vijay is chasing Sri Hari, the villain. Vettaikaran promises to be a typical Vijay film and expectations are high.

Vijay’s biggest hit till date is Ghilli (2004), followed by Pokkiri (2007). Vettaikaran, directed by Babu Sivan (earlier director Dharini’s assistant), is produced by AVM Productions; it is planned for release by June end!

Anushka who won the race to Vettaikaran, and will be the heroine opposite Illayathalapathy Vijay. And now, when it was time for the second lead lady to be finalized, once again a non-Kollywooder has landed the plum role. It’s none other than the ravishing Madalasa. Rumours say she has a super sizzling number with Vijay in the movie, something you guys out there are bound to enjoy. This could very well mean the entry of a new actress into Tamil cinema.

Madalasa is the latest Mumbai import to Tamil cinema; she already has landed a glam role in K.T. Kunjumon’s Kadhalukku Maranamillai with Meera Nandan in the lead.

The Anushka–Vijay starrer Vettaikaran, which started in the first week of March 2009, has a latest entrant. Late director Jeeva’s erstwhile assistant Srinath will don the role of a comedian in the flick. Srinath is, however, not new to comedy roles as such. He has already been featured in almost all of Jeeva’s movies, prominent ones including Dham Dhoom and Unnale Unnale. Srinath is currently directing Muthirai, which features Nithin Sathya, Daniel Balaji and Laksmi Rai.

Vettaikaran, on the other hand, is constantly in the news as one can see. The movie was recently in news with Vijay’s son making a fleeting cameo appearance in the title song.

Vettaikaran shooting is moving ahead with rapid momentum. Following the canning of a stunt sequence a couple of days back in Alwarpet and adjacent areas, the unit has moved to AVM studios where an action scene involving Ilaya Thalapathy was picturised today along with stunt artists. Kanal Kannan, the renowned stunt master is choreographing fight sequences in Vettaikaran and if industry sources are to be believed, he has worked over time to plan to sequences in a unique and different way.

Film buffs may already be aware that Vettaikaran is Vijay’s 49th film which is being directed by Babu Sivan, a former associate of director Dharani. Arundhathee Anushka will be scorching the screens with Vijay this time in this AVM banner film. Stay tuned to this site for updates on Vettaikaran and other industry news.

Vettaikaran’s team returned from Rajamundhry after a hectic schedule there. The unit is now spotted in several places in Chennai including Alwarpet and Adyar going on with the next schedule. The film’s heroine Anushka has completed her part in the first schedule and has flown back to Andhra Pradesh to concentrate in her Telugu assignments.

Meanwhile, the Vettaikaran team is completing portions that require only its hero Vijay. The shooting is progressing rapidly in Alwarpet and Adyar areas. Vettaikaran is directed by Babu Sivan. Kanal Kannan has become the hottest fight master in Kollywood after Ayan.

Though a foreign stuntman was used in one particular chase and fight scene, it was Kannan master who supervised it.

Now Kannal Kannan is doing super action scenes for Vettaikaran in AVM Studio. It is a market scene with Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Sri Hari, the Telugu actor (Disco Shanthi’s husband) playing the villain clashing.

The highlight of this action scene is the “lightning movements of Vijay”, according to unit hands. The whole fight scene is being canned by director Babu Sivan with great care and a lot of effort.
